Building Sexual Safety at Work
(For All Team Members)
Everyone has a role to play in creating a workplace where people feel safe, respected, and valued. This session will help all employees better understand what sexual harassment looks like in real-life scenarios — including the subtle, everyday behaviours that may go unnoticed. Through honest conversation, reflection, and practical tools, participants will explore how to look after themselves and others, respond if something happens, and contribute to a culture of trust and accountability.
Learning Objectives
Understand what constitutes sexual harassment, the different forms it may take (including verbal, non-verbal, online), and why it’s a workplace safety issue — not just a legal one.
Reflect on the personal, professional, and organisational impact of harassment across all genders and many intersections, using real-world case studies and data.
Outline and practice how to respond if it happens to you, including setting boundaries, seeking help and using support channels.
Sharpen your skills as an active colleague, by exploring how to intervene safely and effectively when witnessing inappropriate behaviour.
Review resources and become familiar with organisation-specific support.
Commit to actions you will stop, start, and continue doing to actively contribute to an environment of Sexual Safety in your workplace.
Building Sexual Safety at Work
(For Managers, Leaders, HR and Policy Makers)
Managers and organisational leaders play a critical role in fostering sexual safety. This session is designed to equip managers and leaders with the skills and confidence to prevent, identify, and respond to sexual harassment. Participants will explore the legal and managerial responsibilities of those is positions of authority, develop empathy-led intervention strategies, and practise the conversations that make a difference. This session goes beyond compliance — it’s about shaping the tone from the top and modelling accountability.
Learning Objectives
Understand what sexual harassment is, including how it manifests in different environments, the laws that apply (Worker Protection Act 2024), and the wider psychological impact it has.
Reflect on the personal, professional, and organisational impact of harassment across all genders and many intersections, using real-world case studies and data.
Assess how inappropriate behaviours, harassment and silence affect employee trust, engagement, and retention. Reflect on recent cases and how normalising behaviours can unintentionally enable misconduct.
Sharpen manager and leader intervention skills by practising how to challenge or respond to inappropriate behaviour in-the-moment and post-incident, using empathy, clarity, and boundary setting.
Reflect on how to build a speak up culture in teams where people are encouraged to become active witnesses and contribute to a zero-tolerance culture.
Develop clear commitments for how managers/leaders will support team members, encourage reporting, and hold others accountable.
